Description

Cotton candy is a spun sugar candy that looks like cotton. They usually contain small amounts of flavorings or food coloring. Candy is made by heating and liquefying sugar, and centrifuging it through tiny holes through which the sugar is rapidly cooled. Cotton candy is manufactured and sold worldwide. Many places claim the origin of cotton candy, with some sources tracing it back to a form of spun sugar found in Europe in the 19th century. At the time, spun sugar was expensive, labor-intensive, and generally unavailable to the average person. Others suggest that versions of spun sugar originated in Italy as early as the fifteenth century. The source material of the candy net is usually colored and flavored. When spinning, cotton candy is white because it is made from sugar, but adding dye or coloring turns the color. Originally, cotton candy was only white. Cotton candy may come out purple when mixed. Cotton candy helps to form new blood vessels. I always assumed that cotton candy was bad for you, but according to researchers at Cornell University, cotton candy can be melted to create artificial blood vessels.
